Castleton United Methodist Church (CUMC) created its endowment fund in 1993.
Its objective was to retain the principal and to spend only the annual income from the
fund on church projects and programs.
This year CUMC's endowment is valued at over $100,000. At 4 percent return,
it provides income for church needs of about $4,000 a year. But what if CUMC had
an endowment of $1 million? At 4 percent, the endowment fund would provide income
of $40,000 annually to support our church's programs and dreams. By preserving
the fund's principal, your gift will provide income to sustain our church's spiritual
strength for generations to come.
Anyone who makes (or has made) a planned or deferred qualified gift before
December 31, 2010, automatically becomes a member of the CUMC Legacy
Roundtable and will be honored as "Charter Members." The names of the Charter
Members will be engraved on the Legacy Round Table mosaic, a permanent art piece
prominently displayed in the Legacy Room.
WAYS OF GIVING
The primary means of growing our Endowment Fund will be through planned and
deferred gifts. Most gifts will come from wills or trusts established in a member's estate.
You can remember CUMC in your estate in the following ways:
All gifts, no matter the amount, will be honored and appreciated. The donor may
direct how the income from the gift will be used. You may direct the income to be
used for capital improvements, for missions, for youth ministries, the CUMNS Kids,
or for the general operating fund which is unrestricted and can be used for all
church needs.
A TIME TO DREAM
The Endowment Committee asks that you prayerfully consider your part in this effort.
We pledge to wisely invest your gifts to provide the most efficient, effective support
for our congregations's mission, program and property.
Any amount helps. No matter what you give, you will know that your're helping grow
the mission of CUMC for generations to come.
